He didn’t hand over Melnik to Andronikos III Palaiologos despite the siege and remained loyal to Andronikos II Palaiologos. He was ready to place Melnik in the hands of Andronikos III Palaiologos only after the decease of Andronikos II Palaiologos. He was allowed to carry on as governor of Melnik. He is mentioned in the prostagma of the Byzantine Emperor Andronikos III Palaiologos for the Monastery of Saint John the Baptist near Serres probably from the year 1333. He was one of the witnesses, who authenticated the renewal of the treaty with Venice in 1342.
