Alexios Angelos Komnenos Person Mentioned in the inscription above the main entrance into the naos of the Church of St. Panteleimon at Nerezi from 1164. He appears as a κῦρ in the inscription. Alexios was a man of significant status in twelfth-century Komnenian society. He was a grandson of the founder of the Komnenian dynasty, Alexios I Komnenos (1081-1118). Alexios Angelos Komnenos was one of five children of a military aristocrat, Konstantine Angelos, and the youngest daughter of the Emperor Alexios I Komnenos, Theodora. The only written records of his activity are the dedicatory inscription in his church, and the documents of the Church Council of 1166.
