Description

The Church of St. Vitus is situated at the cemetery of Žrnovo near Korčula.
The edifice is to this day unknown since it is not preserved. A fragment decorated with a plait which is today built into the morgue of the local cemetery, proves that there was a pre-Romanesque Church dedicated to the saint, otherwise significant for the early medieval period. Judging by the style of decoration of the fragment the Church appears to be built in the 11th century. In the 13th century a Romanesque Church dedicated to the same saint was built on the site.
