Description
The Benedictine Church of Sts. Cosmas and Damian is situated on the Island of Pašman, on the Ćokovac hill.
It was first built by bishop Theodoric in 1059 on the foundations of a former Byzantine fortress and an early Christian church. After Venetians conquered Biograd in the 12th century, the Benedictines came and built a new monastery and church which was also destroyed in the 14th century in order to be thoroughly restored in the Gothic style.
Fragments of stone church furnishings were found during various excavations and are today kept in the monastery.
Here a collection of eight Glagolitic inscriptions carved on stone are kept.
