Description
The Basilica of Shën Mëhill was one of the oldest Christian churches in modern Albania. The Basilica was probably built during the reign of Emperor Anastasios I (491-518). Unfortunately only the foundation walls are preserved. The chapell of the basilica was used as burial site for a man and a women and served as a place of pilgrimage from the 5th to the 12thz century. Anna Komnena writes that Robert Guiscard destroyed Arapaj and the basilica on the 18th of October 1081.
