Eudokia Komnene | Person | According to a painted inscription over the west door of the narthex from 1294/1295 Eudokia Komnene endowed together with her husband Progonos Sguros the church of the Virgin Peribleptos in Ōhrid (Church of Saints Clement and Panteleimon), at that time under Byzantine rule. An epigram embroidered on an altar cloth in the thirteenth or fourteenth century and now kept in the National Historical Museum at Sofia indicates that it is also a gift of her husband Progonos Sguros. Eudokia is described on the altar cloth as a relative of the renowned family of the Komnenoi |
