The village of Gradečnica is registered in the Defters for the Sanjak Köstendil between 1570 and 1573. The village was later known as Gorna Gradešnica. The village Gradešnica emerged in 20th century from Gorna and Dolna Gradešnica and does not correspond with Gradečnica.
